DR. GEOFF HEDDLE, O.D.

Practicing from a behavioral model

With over 25 years of optometry experience, Dr. Geoff Heddle has been providing for the needs of patients of all ages and all needs.

Dr. Heddle and his team pride themselves on fully addressing the needs of each and every patient. Their goal is for every patient to become more educated about their visual process and how it is supporting, or interfering with their ability to meet their needs.

Born and raised in Canada, Dr. Heddle is an alumnus of the Indiana University School of Optometry.

Dr. Heddle’s experience in vision therapy and developmental optometry spans multiple organizations and regions, including tenures with the NHLs Toronto Maple Leafs as a sports vision consultant, the NBAs New York Knicks as a member of their medical team and the NFLs Houston Texans and Kansas City Chiefs as a consultant for draft prospects.

However, Dr. Heddle’s experience isn’t limited to just sports teams. Dr. Heddle currently consults for the Berrien County Head Start program and has helped different Police Forces with new candidate evaluations and improvement of field skills.

Dr. Heddle is one of a select few Optometrists in the states of Michigan and Indiana that is a FELLOW of both the College of Optometrists in Visual Development (COVD) and The College of Syntonics (CSO).

In addition to his fellowships he is a member of the Optometric Extension Program Foundation, where he served as an Instructor for their Clinical Curriculum. During his teaching tenure, Dr. Heddle had the opportunity to teach Optometrists all over the world how to provide Optometric care from a Behavioural model.

Dr. Heddle is a past member of the Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Association (NORA).

Additionally, Dr. Heddle has served as a lecturer on sports vision development and as an editor for the Journal of Behavioral Optometric Association Foundation (BOAF).

In today’s day and age, it seems to increasingly be the norm that doctors of all sorts, including optometrists, have an appointment book that is so full that it makes for a hectic schedule each and every day. The result is brisk, impersonal care that leaves patients and parents of patients unsatisfied with the answers they were given. Too often, the doctor’s response is to have a prescription filled, and to have the patient follow up with them if they need anything else.

Dr. Geoff Heddle believes in a different approach to optometry which puts the patient’s needs and their time first. We work hard to not overbook ourselves so as to provide plenty of time for us to connect with our patients and truly gain insight into their worries. We believe this allows us to provide better diagnoses and better results.

If you have a child who is suffering from a vision disorder, or suspect that your child or even yourself may have a vision problem, contact Dr. Heddle today to schedule a comprehensive vision evaluation.
